Best buy sold a defective product to me and is not ready to exchange it. They are a scam!!!

Company: BestBuy
Address : Staten Island, NY, 10314, United States

Im a regular customer in BestBuy. I had purchased a lot of things from them almost worth $6500. Recently I purchased a Sony Playstation from them. After I went home I opened the box and found that the playstation was dirty and looked old as though it was used. I tried to put it on but in vain.
The next day I went back to the store to return it with the receipt. As always the lines were very long so I had to wait for almost an hour. Finally I reached the counter the person at the counter checked the unit and said that I wont be able to return the playstation to the store. They said that I had to go to Sony for a refund.
I finally got to speak to the manager, but he was of no help. When I told him my problem he said that I removed the identification no. just to pull a scam on the store. I was really annoyed as I did not know what to do. I made him understand that Im doing nothing of that sort. I tried to find out from branches of BestBuy if they had the same return policy and they did not. They said that if the manager wanted he could accept the return, but he didnt want his store to pay for it. I went to another branch and managed to exchange the unit. I will never step in the Staten Island branch again.
I told my friends about this too. They said that I was not the only one who got ripped-off by them. For instance, one of my friend bought a DVD player, but was shocked when he found that there were magazines in the box.
