I got a letter on July 9, 2008 with a check in the amount of $4,890.00. The check looks real and even the bank stated so. I called the number on the check to M&T and gave the check info to them. They stated that this was a valid check. The letter I got stated I won a government grant. The check was to pay the taxes then I was to get another check in the amount of $35,850.00. The check was from a donor R&J Furniture. The states that the other donors are Gap, McDonalds, The Home Depot, Blockbuster, Sears, Wal Mart and several other well known stores. the later states that you do not need to repay, but the letter is confidential and must stay at your home. This is a scam. The signature on the check is forged! ITS SOUNDS GOOD AND LOOKS REAL! But be carefull! Please do not fall for this scam.
